Greeting cards turn into flowers!
National Examiner, May 19, 2008
NOW you can send someone flowers without the fussy bouquet – all thanks to a new line of greeting cards that includes seeds right in the paper!
“We take recycled linen paperand we put plant seeds or herbs in it,” says Sharon Quercioli, the eco-friendly head of Sprouts! “You take the card and stick it under a thin layer of soil.”
Then, just add water, wait five to ten days and watch a flower patch appear. Consider it a new twist on the gift that keeps on giving.
“Instead of giving someone a card and they throw it away, the person plants it and the card grows flowers – and they never forget who they got it from,” Quercioli tells THE EXAMINER.
Sprouts! – whose Web site is sproutem.com – also offers seed-infused bookmarks, favor boxes and promotional items.
Adds Quercioli, “We’re trying to create something beautiful, help the environment and educate people to be more green.” -Linda Makel
